  • Lomachenko vs. Salido is just like Gatti vs. Mayweather, except...

Lomachenko has a loss to Salido. Salido is the fan favorite. Salido brings in the ratings and sells tickets. If Mayweather accepted being the B-side why can't Lomachenko accept the B-side against Salido? Avenging the loss and fighting in front of a large crowd in person and on TV will do more for Lomachenko than any fight against Pedraza, Corrales, or Sosa. Sometimes you have to dare to be great

"If Salido would have right now the WBC title and Lomachenko have WBO, that means something," continued Klimas. "He can ask for even more money than Lomachenko but right now he's not in the situation where to tell Lomachenko to 'give me more money and I will fight you.' F*** you. There are plenty of guys to fight before a Salido." "Listen, we have a (Jose) Pedraza, we have a (Jezreel) Corrales, we have (Jason) Sosa. We're aiming at champions. We're aiming to unify titles. That's our goal. I believe that's the goal for Top Rank I believe that's the goal of our team. That's what we want to do," stated Klimas.

Andre Ward got paid the same amount Lomachenko got paid his last fight and Ward more than doubled Lomachanko's attendance. Some fighters understand you gotta take pay cuts to make the fight happen. This is Wards third fight in a row he took a paycut from his guarantee to make the fight happen

Gatti was way more popular than Salido. He could sell out the boardwalk hall. He put up great ratings and he was the perfect PPV opponent for Mayweather's PPV debut. The fight did like 340,000 buys. I'm sure Lomachenko would give up money if Salido was on Gatti's level, but he isn't.

And Lomachenko is nowhere near Floyd's level of popularity during that time. My point is with all things considered it's obvious who the A-side and B-side are in this fight. But for some reason Lomachenko and his team thinks he's the A-side. He may be the better boxer, like Floyd was, but he lost to Salido and needs to avenge that loss. And Salido is the only one selling out venues.

am a big loma fan but i kind of agree with you. At the end of the day, salido has a win over loma and loma should bite the bullet, accept the terms and try and avenge the loss.

gatti was a club fighter at best who put up great legendary fights vs other club fighters.

as a fighter, salido is better than gatti.

loma? lol, forget about it. he would embarrass the shot to sH8t gatti that floyd fought coming in at 130lbs.

The only people who think Lomachenko should't compromise are the same people who think his amateur record means something in the pros

Salido is better, but he is not more popular.

Keep in mind Salido Vargas, a fight of the year candidate, only had 830K viewers on HBO.

I think Loma should overpay just to get the blemish off of his record. The question is how much should be overpay? I don't really know what the reports are, but if Salido is asking for more than Loma then that's just being unreasonable especially since he's 0-1-2 in his last 3 and hasn't won a fight since 2014 against Kokietgym. When you've got two draws and a loss in your last three fights then you don't really have a lot of bargaining power.

Also keep in mind why Mayweather fought Gatti. He fought him because it was a popular name and he used that fight to springboard into the main******. Salido doesn't offer those same kind of benefits to Loma.
