We know that he boils down to make 147, it's safe to assume after his fight in March he ballooned back up in weight, as he always does. So he's walking around 175, give or take, since that is his walking around weight. How much muscle he's gained, that's literally impossible for anyone to know (and I'm very annoyed by certain posters trying to legitimize this fight!).

So keep that in mind when I'm asking you this question, specifically that I hate this fight and I don't defend it in the sense of it being a "legit" title defense for Gennady, or hell even an acceptable title defense (imo this should be a non-title event). With that said, I think it's clear Brook is a lot bigger naturally than welterweight, in fact I think he probably could make a permanent transition into middleweight, if he truly wanted to, so the weight gain probably isn't that big of a deal for him, if not for the fact he's doing it all wrong by going straight into a GGG fight instead of the logical approach of either fighting at 154 a couple times first or fighting a couple "lower level" middleweights first to get accustomed to the weight class. Going up two weight classes isn't unheard of, it's just a ****** way of doing it by going straight into a GGG fight. If he was fighting Billy Joe Saunders for example or Andy Lee, I'd give him a big shot at winning. GGG is just on such a higher level than those guys, plus his power, it just makes this move by Brook so ******, a decision I'm convinced he only made because of his weird obsession with Amir Khan (Brook never said a word about Golovkin until Khan signed to fight Canelo).

Anyways, I'm rambling...what was his weight a month ago lol. If he was 175 already, the bulk of his training camp isn't gaining weight, it's trying to turn the weight into muscle or whatever.
Impossible to turn fat in to muscle and it's impossible to build muscle while on a calorie deficit (losing fat). Brook has just decided to keep the excess fat he gains between fights, he's basically a fat WW fighting at MW.

HBO won't see either fight as a PPV. So there is no way that either fighter can make $4M or even $3M fighting Golovkin. $1.5M came to Danny against Quillen when Haymon was feeling more flush. As we see, he seems to have tightened his belt some this year so point is when you or your manager are assessing where you can get most money you can't just look at Kell Brook and say I want $4M because he got $4M. Thats not how it works.
There are quite a few fighters who seem to be spectacularly mis-managed when it comes to extracting the most money from their career. If you are past 28 yrs old and not an elite fighter then defeat lurk at every corner as you start to leave your best years behind you. Quillen, BJS, Jacobs, come to mind.
Brook recognised he was never going to get $4M fighting anyone else, not at 147 or 154 so he jumped at it. Ditto Khan. But that's not available to Jacobs. You go whatever money can be got. Fighting once a year for $1.5M is not bad work but how much will Jacobs get for fighting Mora and will he fight again this year? What it all says is that Jacobs has little faith in his own abilities against GGG.

You are dreaming if you think that Jacobs will fight Golovkin for less than half what Brook got paid.

That fight will never happen, and neither will Golovkin/Saunders.

You get what you pay for.

And you are dreaming if you that the largely-untested relatively-unknown welterweight Kell Brook, can generate THREE TIMES more than Saunders/Jacobs..... that is utter nonsense.

Kell Brook will be handsomely rewarded, because Golovkin actually wants to fight him..... not for any other reason.

That is pointless irrelevant bull****, you should know better.

          All fighters cut weight.

You clowns decided to call Canelo a middleweight, now you are attempting to do the same thing with Brook?

Give it a rest..... Brook prepares to fight welters at 147, anything more than that is bull**** spin.

The comment below is just bull**** spin.....

Again though, it's ****** to go straight into a middleweight fight against Golovkin of all people, ballsy sure, but ****** and I can almost guarantee if Khan didn't fight Canelo he wouldn't of even called Gennady out, but hes a weird dude. He's a weird guy for me to gauge talent wise too, as I thought he was probably the best welterweight outside of the obvious Pac and Floyd, but a lot of that had to do with his size and my belief he's a big welterweight who's fighting guys naturally smaller than him. It's too bad we couldn't have seen him at 154 first, I think that would have told me everything I need to know about Brook the fighter. Instead, it's just going to be about a). how long can he last against Golovkin and b). does he hold himself well (ex win server rounds, stay competitive, etc). It all depends on how bad he loses but I'm curious to see WTF he's going to do after, I'm guess go to 154 but who knows with this guy.

OK, I can accept most of that. Kell Brook - at best - could possibly move to 154..... but nobody even knows how effective he will be at that weight, let alone 160.

I currently favor half-a-dozen guys at 154 over Brook.

Nothing will change the fact that he currently prepares to fight welters at 147.

            • After Golovkin knocks him out, Brook will drop back down...... to WELTER, not 154.

                A la khan.

That pic is from beginning of Feb 2013 before he pulled out of the Alexander fight, it's the only one i could find that wasn't a fight week. Who's the ******?

                    Here's a thread created Feb 1st

                    http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=583745

The fight was scheduled for the 23rd. So that's 22 days before he was scheduled to fight.
