What if Michael Phelps had been a boxer?

The most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 25 medals. Phelps holds the all-time records for Olympic gold medals (21, more than twice that of the second-highest record holders) The human tuna fish also has a colossal 33 world championship medals (26 gold) also! Would this Merman make a good boxer? I hear a lot about human kangaroos & ostriches (sprinters & NBA stars) being hypothetically good boxers so how would the human Salmon from Baltimore do?

Team sports require a lot more than just athleticism, which is why people speculate that they could make good boxers.

Impossible to tell how good Phelps would be. Same as Usain Bolt. They could have the reactions of an alcoholic for all we know. How is there spacial awareness? How quickly do they process information? How is there control of distance? These are some if the most important aspects that make up a top level boxer, and guys like Phelps and Bolt could be terrible in all of them for all we know

Swimmers aren't good athletes. Most people that join swimming do it because they suck so bad at other sports. It's not a particularly skilled sport.

That's why I shake my head when people say he's the greatest athlete ever. You can't be a swimmer and be the greatest athlete ever. It's not a skilled sport. As far as being naturally gifted, that goes to Usain Bolt.

He wouldn't make it as a boxer.

he is about 190-195 so he'd be a cruiser. long arms would allow him to jab effectively. My guess is he'd have the stamina to go 12. the work ethic is there no question. can't tell about the chin though.

I could see him as a ODH type fighter just his vices would be weed and chicks instead of coke and ****.

Is like saying Einstein was a limited thinker..

Funny isn't it? Let's see all these 'athletes' try & swim.. Let alone accomplish what he has then?

Those long arms and giant hands would be amazing for a boxer.

Phenomenal athlete indeed it takes a lot of skill to do what he does so I'm going to go off on a limb and say he would be one of the most dedicated with training I think he'd catch on well with everything and master it but we won't ever know If he is a big puncher I think he'd likely have good reflexes though.

Boxing definitely is harder but he'd have a lot of positives If he did go towards a career in boxing from his youth too bad its all could have would have should haves.
