That Boone fight was way before Ward became a champion or even a contender. There are alot of fighters who was dropped and rocked early in their career. If Jackson is training Kovalev for that version of Andre Ward then Kovalev will lose a boring decision. Ward is good on the inside at roughing up and slowing down power punches like Edison Miranda, Arthur Abraham, and even Alan Green. Both fighters were known for their KO power. Kovalev is the favorite but not going to be a walk in the park.

Kovalev's chin isn't anything to brag about either..He was dropped hard in full headgear and was put down by light puncher Camparillo.

Ward has the better defense.

Yeah Ward has a better defense. However if your chin is so-so in one division, then surely your confidence in this chin will fall when moving up facing bigger Guys and bigger punches. Remember that Ward has not been in with anyone worth anything in 5 years.

Kovalev has fought everybody worth anything at 175 (except Adonis). Ward hasn't fought anybody worth anything in 5 years and certainly none at 175 that prepares him for Kovalev. There's way more questionmarks hanging over Ward than Kovalev.
