You show this fight to a young kid, then have him watch the Super Bowl or the NBA Finals, there is no question which sports he will focus his talents on.
For real, my mother hated sports when I was a kid and she always bought Tyson PPVs. She would watch HBO boxing (how I grew up a Roy Jones fan) and has strong feelings on Leonard vs. Hagler. Boxing used to transcend sports fans and was just a part of everyday culture.

Been a long time since that was true.

Shame this fight is being handled this poorly (by both sides, in my opinion). I was doing my typical 'promoting' of this fight at work, and even though I explained the significance of the fight, not one of them were interested. One person asked "will either of them fight pacquaio soon?". I give up.

As for the Ward vs Kovalev Presser, that proves my point as well of how **** the promoters are now. They can't even organize a Presser Properly. For a fight of this magnitude the pressure needs to be more than some Hole In A Wall Pressure. That looked like some last minute put together BS (even though Duva said she told Roc Nation Weeks ago "Allegedly"), was the Boxing Press even aware of that Presser? Most of them seem as if they had no clue it was happening either. That being said, it is plenty of time between now at November 19th to promote and organize a PROPER Press Tour!
Exactly. This fight deserves better. That's all I'm saying.

I disagree with point 3, this fight will have a much bigger audience than 200k. I reckon at least 600k buys. That's only households so lets say the average household had a fight party 10 people or even 5 people plus people streaming the fight the American audience probably is in the millions.

good point overall though, it don't have that 'mega' fight vibe like the fights you mentioned.

Millions of people outside of the States will watch this fight on streams, or on TV if their country has a deal with HBO.

yeah thing is i dont think anyones expecting a good fight which makes it a big problem. Dont think its anything to do with promoters etc, fact is if a fight has andre ward involved in it, the build up will be boring and the fight will be boring.

... quite rightly people dont want to spend hard earned money on getting bored for 45 minutes. If they got a good undercard with a recognisable name on it that would help, but promoters are cheapskates these days, rare to have a good undercard

George groves fought in a higher profile match than these two, and probably make more $$$ than they will make too.

                      How weird is that.

                      George groves...
