That also sounds like a lose lose for Pacquiao too. If he loses to Vargas that's a loss. If he beats Vargas then Vargas is a bum so that's also a loss. I think you are wrong. Pacquiao is fresh off a great win over Bradley and he didn't look old.If Vargas wins it's a big win for him. If Vargas losses it depends how he loses. If Pacquiao blows him away in a few easy rounds he probably will be considered a bum by many. If Vargas puts up a good fight and loses few will call him a bum. He will get respect from most fans.

Let's be real, Vargas isn't considered that good anyway. He has at least 2 gifts on his resume, stepped up to Bradley amd got outclassed for the whole fight til he landed a good shot and still couldn't finish the job even before the ref screwed up. He won a vacated title by beating a prospect. He has nowhere to go but up right now. When he loses to Pac he should still be able to get a decent fight

His wallet is winning and if he beats Pacquiao his wallet is gonna continue winning. He's a fun fighter who's maybe just a little shy on talent compared to the top guys. But I hope he catches Pac with one huge shot and puts that bastard out to pasture!
