Kovalev has fought several fighters with awkward styles: Chilemba, Pascal, Caparello, and Mohammedi.

none of them can punch for crap.

at least Ward has guys with pop on his resume.

it certainly gave him and JDJ plenty of things to work on

it was a bad performance but it will undoubtedly make him better prepared for ward, which was the whole point in the end

            Ward isn't a puncher either.

I think Kovalev should have one more fight before Ward, so he can improve on those things.

I dont really agree with that...only thing they have in common is that they throw a consistent jab

Chilemba fights going side to side or negative 90 % of the time and throws the same type of jab over and over

Ward throws stab jabs, power jabs, range finds, doubles it up, and has a better left hook and defense.

He also seems to be physically stronger than chilemba

Also he can fight southpaw, he swtich hit a lot more in his younger days, also he is quicker with his hands, legs and reflexes than chilemba

chilemba has a pesky jab, wards can stop you in your tracks or be pesky

Also Chilemba does not have the inside game or countering abilities of ward

outside of the jab, decent mobility, this was not much prep for ward, nor was brand for kov

if they arent ready now for each other they;ll never be

                no one fights like them

He's fought and beaten more punchers than Kovalev has.

Why are you pulling for Kovalev?

                    Russians aren't pulling for Ward.
