HBO paid less than $300k for the fight. As another poster pointed out that's why Sharbanskky turned down the fight. He wanted more than HBO was willing to pay for the whole fight. But this is what Ward wanted so he's the only one to blame. He wanted that HBO contract and this is what comes with it.

If Ward was fighting a much better fighter then both Ward and his opponent would probably be paid more. Ward is so much better than Brand that it's hard to get excited about this mismatch. It's good to watch one of the best boxers in the world in action. It would be so much better if he were fighting someone who could give him a decent fight. I guess that will have to wait until November.
