Great news. Felix needs a step up and Flanagan, being a weak world title holder, is a convenient opponent to face.

Hope Felix learns to be more clinical.

Great news. Hopefully this will force Mikey Garcia to find a real opponent, then Verdejo and Mikey Garcia can fight next! And both actually have a challenging opponent for the first time in either of their careers.

Let's not forget Mikey Garcia ducked out of boxing for years right when he was supposed to face Gamboa. Funny how that works. Now he comes back and expects to go right back to fighting easy fights. Funny how that works too. Why not actually fight someone good to make up for ducking Gamboa? Verdejo against Mikey Garcia would be an excellent little fight in the lower weights.

I like Verdejo. Big fan and really want him to succeed. But Mikey is too polished for the kid. Verdejo won’t for a long time stand a chance against him. Not that the discussion matters much, because realistically speaking the two won’t even fight now that Mikey is with Al Haymon.

As for Mikey ducking out of boxing, he did so for promotional reasons. Not to duck any particular fighter. The guy was being lied to and short-changed.

You remember that Rocky Martinez drop Mikey.. Verdejo is not rocky he is way faster with longer reach and a powerfull right hand with a high guard and good footwork... I just can see Verdejo beating mikey actually.

Hopefully this means Mikey Garcia vs. Dejan Zlaticanin for the WBC Lightweight Championship! Is Dejan the champ, or Linares?

I'm really happy Verdejo is getting this opportunity. Been a fan for a long time and have seen em fight love many times. I've also seen Mikey fight live. They're on two different levels right now. Mikey is on a war path right now

Representatives for lightweight world titleholders Terry Flanagan and Dejan Zlaticanin are deep in discussion to pair the fighters in a unification fight this fall, Lou DiBella, Zlaticanin's promoter, told ESPN.com on Thursday.
You can skip your mandatory for a unification only
