Comments Thread For: Frampton vs. Santa Cruz: Is There Actually a Rematch Clause?

There have been conflicting reports as to whether there is an immediate rematch clause between Carl Frampton and Leo Santa Cruz. This past weekend at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York, Frampton captured the WBA featherweight crown via majority decision in what was one of the better fights of 2016.

I don't think you'd find many fans complaining if there is a rematch clause. It was an awesome fight

Santa Cruz will have to knock Frampton out in the rematch. I thought Frampton barely won the fight. Those 2 score cards that gave Frampton the win were too wide.

Yeah that 9-3 one was BS!!! He ALWAYS seems to do 9-3 cards. 93 man did it again??? Look at the judges name... Look familiar???

Adrien Broner moved up two weight classes and took the WBA welterweight title from Paulie Malignaggi in a 12-round, split decision at Barclays Center. The trash-talking filled bout saw the two fighters go back and forth, but the power of Broner (27-0) proved to be the difference maker, with the 23-year-old earning card wins of 115-113 and 117-111.

WTF you'd think it's a simple question or easy enough to ascertain Is THERE or ISN'T there a rematch clause?????

DiBella said there wasn't one. Fair play either way next doe. If Frampton wants to move forward to something bigger & better or just different than fair play to him & if both guys want to fight again since the fight was such a fun fight then fair play to both of them. I couldn't be mad either way. I do root for them fighting again at some point in the next year or two doe.

I thought rematch clauses in championship fights were almost always standard. I'm interested ion what comes out as fact on this.
