Lets face it, Oscar Valdez vs. Gary Russel Jr. would be for the #1 featherweight...

Not taking anything away from Frampton or LSC, good fighters, but I think they were fighting for 3rd place. The fight that would make the #1 126lb fighter is between Oscar Valdez vs. Gary Russel Jr. Thoughts?

I doubt this fight happens, but itd be a great match-up. I know the slick brothas usually give Mexicans a hard time in the ring but I wouldnt call Russel slick. Personally I think the better footwork belongs to Valdez but Russells hand speed is un-believeable. Personally I really like Lomencheko a lot but I could see Valdez doing what Loma couldnt do and put Russell away late BUT I could also see Russell winning a wide UD (w/some KD's) just by frustrating with handspeed alone. Your opinion??

It's a shame we never got to see Lomachenko and him face off, Lomachenko has fought absolutely NOTHING since moving up!

True about Russell he is anything but slick is an all out brawl you out in style great fighter to watch but he similar to Lomachenko hasn't fought anyone this year it's been sorta quiet down in that division apart from Carl and Leo.

When are you Americans going to learn? Frampton beats Russell. Perfect style match up for him.

You might be right... But Frampton has the biggest win in that entire division. As far as I'm concerned you gotta beat Frampton to become the man.

Styles make fights just because Lomachenko boxed Russells ears off doesn't mean Carl can necessarily do it that said maybe he might find it easier to do what he did against Leo to Russell since he won't have height or reach advantages over Carl but one thing is for sure Russell hits way harder than Leo.

I don't think its a gimme fight to Carl it could be a very, very hard fight to win If anything.

I dont know about that man, LSC hit Frampton a lot. Russel probably has the fastest hands in boxing and he is pretty sturdy, he lasted 12 with Loma. I cant see Frampton hurting him.

Man, Valdez is one of my favorite fighters right now, but he hasn't proven anything yet. He's still a prospect level even though he has a belt. GRJ hasn't done anything since Loma loss either.

LSC was the more accomplished fighter, and Frampton beat him. He's the #1 by virtue of having the best resume right now.
