    WBC starting year round testing

This is awesome news. All their fighters have to sign up by September or get stripped of titles & rankings. Now if the other orgs will also adopt it would clean up alot of the sport.

This is good news, however I'm worried about the associated costs that go with this testing. I don't think WBC is going to subsidize this, so I'd assume they're going to hold the fighters financially responsible for undergoing the year around testing.

Fighters may start to avoid WBC, especially some of the lesser known names. If a guy fights twice a year and makes ~100k per fight, they're not gonna want to pay VADA ~20-30k for the year around testing.

Wouldn't be surprised if the big promoters tried to work out a deal where they pay a 'group rate' for all the guys under their banner or something.

The good news is it'll speed up the economies of scale. More fighters and more regular testing done, the cheaper it'll become for everyone. The fighter's might see an increase in their sanctioning fee, but probably not too drastic that it makes them avoid the WBC. Even if it did chase away some fighters, then other fighters would flock to the WBC b/c of those open opportunities.

Does anyone have a list of what they are testing for and the penalties?

The fighters should not be liable for paying for this; If so, these belts(wbc) are becoming worthless.
