Furthermore it’s not just a fight for me, it’s very important for me to look good in that fight, to my standard and to my team’s standard. I have a certain amount of pressure on myself just to go out there and perform and hopefully look good doing it.


... Well, what does it mean for Ward to be "successful" in that fight? Just win it?... Nah... He wants "to look good", "perform and hopefully look good doing it"...

I know. It's just odd for a boxing to speak like that. Most of us look forward to these types of fights. Ward pulled out of a fight that most call a mismatch and now he is using that to indicate Ward will pull out of a fight he asked for. Just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Andre Ward couldn't sell out a Texas ARENA for a bout even if free citizenship was given out with each ticket. Face the fact that Ward is dull and boring and has no fan support and no one cares about watching the dull Uncle Tom Ward box. But Ward beat Kovalev easily.

Ward is very good for his generation a generation back I doubt if he could have handled Michael Spinks and way back he never would have been able to handle Bob Foster...
