This logic doesn't stop fans from comparing PBC to HBO. I don't think people understand that PBC is supposed to be bigger and better than HBO. The only thing HBO has over PBC is star power.

I mean prorated by the number of subscribers. So instead of doing 1.3x more, they're doing 2x or better

Not good numbers! A lot of people missed an AWESOME fight! Where's the Crawford vs. Postol numbers? Did I miss that report?

Lara vs Williams did 1.1million, more than the Rosado fight. Lara fight's against Trout, Vanes 1, and Angulo all went up againt another boxing card on the respective competing network. His other recent fights have done Friday night fight numbers exactly because he's been fighting on Friday and in one case Wednesday. And like you said, numbers would have been much higher if he fought on HBO, but I guess he'll have to settle for being the second highest ratings draw on Showtime this year.

On July 9, HBO had a double-header with Paul Williams vs Erislandy Lara in the main event. At 10:16 there were 644,000 viewers; at 10:25 there were 789,000 viewers; and at 10:52 there were 940,000 viewers. That rounds out to an average of 791,000 viewers for the night. There's a reason besides the robbery of Lara that you never heard much more about that show from HBO.
A pleasant surprise came with HBO’s latest installment of Boxing After Dark, which produced a Knockout of the Year contender, a viable player in the middleweight division, and ratings that far surpassed expectations and the budget surrounding the show. Canada’s David Lemieux has clawed his way back into contention after past debacles, his most recent achievement coming in a 10th round stoppage of Gabriel Rosado on December 6 in Brooklyn, New York. The bout marked the stateside debut for Lemieux, which registered well with the home audience as an average of 908,000 viewers tuned in for the main event. The fight–which also marked Lemieux’s first appearance on HBO—peaked at more than 1.16 million viewers. Lemieux is now being suggested as a future opponent for unbeaten middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin, who is under exclusive contract with HBO.

Not to mention all the ratings were higher in 2011, and PWill was bringing all the viewers.

Thats pretty bad, but what do you expect its Showtime.

Showtime is just not that great of a channel when trying to pull in viewers. Its boxing which most of the time is very basic, their channel has no good programming.

After being provided the numbers from Nielsen...

July 9, 2011: “HBO Boxing After Dark” (Paul Williams vs. Erislandy Lara) averaged 1.1 million viewers (P2+ ) watching Live + Same Day
                .

Your Leimux number was also live + same day. That's the "average" number you always hear in stories. You're not comparing apples to apple.

Great find man, bookmarked. Can always rely on you for first class research. So you've proven Pwill can beat Lemieux even with as Lara as B side, and offered a lot of excuses why Lara's A side numbers are so poor

Nobody cares but you nerds. Viewership has never changed the sport of boxing. I've seen all of the excuses as to why it matters, but really, it doesn't.
