Comments Thread For: Danny Green Not Looking Past Watts To Anthony Mundine

Painful history has steeled boxer Danny Green not to get ahead of himself. The 43-year-old is wary that he has to concede age and weight to Kane Watts in their fight for the vacant Australian cruiserweight title in Melbourne on Wednesday night.

A cruiserweight with a verbal agreement to fight a super welterweight. Sounds like a compelling fight.

They fought once before about 10 years ago at Super Middleweight. Green is not a real Cruiser Weight and Mundine is not a real Super Welterweight.

Absolutely - some of Mundine's weight cuts in the past have been horrendous. The guy already looks like he's on deaths door as it is.

It looks like Green was draining himself ten years ago to make the Beyer and Mundine fights. At this point, it appears to be an unhealthy move for Green to even attempt to make Light Heavyweight. Any word what division they're wanting to fight in yet?

Agreed catchweight 83kg or just under 183lbs, Green last weighed in at 84.9 to fight at his chosen catchweight of 85kg, Mundine 69.5kg. If you consider that last November Green's camp was in negotiations with Juergen Braehmer for a shot at his 79kg WBA belt, the 83kgs seems well in Green's favour. Strange how Green's willing to drop to 79kgs to fight a light heavy champ but needs 83kgs to fight a super welter weight ranked 30. Guessing he's still haunted by the lobsided defeat he suffered in the 1st fight.
