You can't be a reckless aggressor against Ward and there is no need to be since Kovalev has a great jab. Maidana is not on the level of Kovalev and fight's very different to him.

Kovalev will do better in the second half of the fight because he the most difficult thing he has to deal with is Ward's speed. Take the first couple of rounds to adjust to that speed and then KO a Ward that is known for having stamina issues.

Ward is a difficult style.

I would go all out...try to impose size and outpunch him, because Ward will go alot to the body...so the easiest way to me to not let him be comfortable throwing punches.(this would require lots of stamina)

midrounds, would be more like the hopkins fight, where he is cautious with Ward leaping in.

is like a game...try to set him the first half with all your strength...and second half try to do just the opposite(stay calm, be aware, jab, jab, counter,etc), that way his reactions would be alot different. With that, along with the power you can do alot.

but hey!, lets see how Ward adapts to that, maybe he really is a master of this game!

If he does this Ward will pick him apart. I agree with OP, don't give Ward any space, and employ a maidana like tactic on him. His gameplan against Bhop won't work on Ward.
