Comments Thread For: Selby Wants Frampton in U.K., Still Open to Santa Cruz, Russell

Lee Selby watched from ringside at Barclays Center as Carl Frampton outpointed Leo Santa Cruz to win a featherweight world title. Selby was there because he has a world title of his own.

I know I'm asking for an indulgence on Selby's part, but I wish he would consider calling Warrington a bad name... again.

yeah he did. That had to be embarrassing for Selby. We'll see with Russell though, he seems to want to fight everyone now but talk is cheap. It does seem like these other guys want no parts of him

Russell has two names on his resume, he lost ugly to one, and a bunch of TBA's. He can bully Selby, but that isn't helping his case. He lost when he stepped up, so now he wants to step down?

Step down? How is he stepping down by wanting to take on the other champs in his division? That's what you're supposed to do, want to fight the best guys around. He even said he wants Loma again. Every interview I have seen of his since the loss where they bring up opponents he says he wants to avenge the Loma loss

I agree talk is cheap. My only thing is Selby, Frampton and Santa Cruz seem to want to fight each other and mentions Russell name in passing.

True, I agree. I think they see him as too much of a threat for little reward. The thing is though is that they are with Haymon and gonna get paid regardless, Showtime will spend the money for those fights cause they will be good. But yeah, those guys don't want any parts of Russell it seems. Russell needs to let it be known though as he did the other night

Selby is a terrific fighter and would be the most accomplished opponent he has faced.

But I agree with your overall sentiment. Russell ain't done anything wort ha damn. We talk about guys like Martin being a bad world title holder but Russell has to be one of the worst featherweight title holders in history.

Selby vs Frampton in the UK will make money so that is logical as a next fight.

But I'm getting a kick out of all the excuses already coming out when it comes to Gary Russell Jr. He isn't worth a damn, he's the worst featherweight title holder in history, blah blah blah.

When we all know that in reality he's one of the most difficult and dangerous of the current 126 lb beltholders, now that Lomachenko left the division.
