Heavyweight boxing is a different animal and is not like the lower weight classes that have been much more prominent. Range and power play a huge part in all weight classes but they are amplified at heavy because these are big boys that bring the pain so advantages in those areas are critical. These advantages also don't really go away over time. Wilder has other much more perishable assets like speed and athleticism but being only 31 he has a good few years before that become a problem unless injuries bring that on sooner.
I know one thing about Wilder out of all the American heavies I watch Wilder is the one that has something different, he has flaws and will eventually get beat I have no doubt. He is however very effective and with his attributes fighting him is no easy task, I remember Malinaggi talking about Wilder and saying something like "it seems so simple to avoid the right hand then counter, but if you avoid a missile it is not so easy just to reset and make something happen" so dealing with Wilder is much easier said than done and a lot of people don't really see that.
