Santa Cruz Didn't Have to Lose that Fight

Cruz had a clear size, height, and reach advantage. You would think he would use his jab, keep Frampton on the outside, pot shot and use a long right hand Tommy Hearns style but nope, dude was onstantly bending, fighting at close range, brawling and basically giving up all his advantages.

His trainers need to be smacked just basic fighting tall and he would of won that fight easy!

Funny thing 'cause i was saying the exact same thing. WHY DIDN'T HE USE HIS REACH & HEIGHT? I was perplexed as hell. I guess he just wanted to give the people what they wanted? He threw that fight away. He has nobody to blame but himself. Either way, it was a good fight. Props to Frampton. He's a tough lil' booger

Like all other Mexican-style fighters, Santa Cruz only knows one way to fight. He does not have a plan B. When his brawling, 1000-punches per fight style is not effective, he is helpless in the ring. That is why Mexican-style fighters always lose to highly skilled fighters.

He didn't fight that way because it's not his style. He's not a fighter that wins on skill, he wins due to work rate, chin and accumulation.

Frampton is more skilled, his angles kept LSC's punch output low and he hit him with some good, powerful shots.

LSC didn't start to get going until Frampton slowed down a little, the first half was relatively easy for Frampton.

shut your racist black ass up. Trout and Lara are considered 'highly skilled fighters?' Look what happened to them? Canelito put a whooping on them boys. Same could be said about Castillo beating Floyd.

Agree. He kind of has to fight as he does because he's not very quick. Yes, he could have used his height more but Frampton seemed to figure out when he would try to jab. He has success when he just barrelled in threw a left hook then a right hand.

Frampton had more natural speed and skill.

              Agreed..

The fact that this little guy moved up and beat him is kind of embarrassing. It's crazy cause this fight didn't even call for a life and death battle, basic boxing skills would of been sufficient

"Mexican Style" definitely did him no favors tonight

All the height and reach in the world didn't make up for his deficiencies in speed, skill and defense. Santa Cruz is a little Antonio Margarito. Margarito had plenty of trouble with Cotto. Cotto was always "chinny," and eventually broke(possibly due to illegal wraps, unconfirmed...). Frampton didn't break due to Leo's power.
