Didn't say they were average. Didn't say I didn't enjoy the fight. Just said its hard for me to reach peak excitement when I know I'm not watching the best. Yes, boxing is entertainment. But at the end of the day, its competition. If the entertainment value is more important than the competition. There's no need to keep score.

Al Haymon is a very honest man. most promoters would have had the fight rigged for their star fighter to win. A fight this close, the decision could have easily gone to LSC and the fans would have accepted it. Bob Arum did the ultimate robbery with Bradley Pac and Golden boy has all the judges bought out for every Canelo fight. Al Haymon goes around buying out the Judges for Danny Garcia but you let LSC, you're prized possesion who name his son after you take an L with a fight this close? SMH
i honestly think the reason is because Al Haymon needs to find a reason to stop paying LSC 1 million+ paydays.
It was two Haymon guys in a good, competitive fight. The better fighter got the decision.Comment

I'm sure there are several optometrists in your area. Schedule an appointment this coming week. You need it, friend.

Gave Leo 3, maybe 4 rounds tops. The draw was crazy. BUT the right fighter was given the nod. I just don't see a different outcome, even if they fought a dozen times. Very pleased for Frampton. Quite a determined young man who showed talent and poise.Comment

I don't necessarily agree with that. For me, I've never considered Santa Cruz a top level guy. He's been matched very carefully to kinda create the illusion that he is. And tonight was no different. But now that he's been beaten, I think he settles into the Gatti role that fighters like him are destined to fill. He'll be matched against top level guys that he can't beat, to create entertaining fights to raise guys' stock. And when none of those guys are around needing a push, he'll be tossed in with other action guys to in what will be predictable wars. A lot like they've done with Providnikov. Which isn't a bad gig. A painful one. Just ask Brandon Rios. But one that will pay the bills.Comment

Yeah, Gaymon is not against mexicans.
All his "prospects" keep losing after facing numerous undefeated prospects that are actually pushed.
His best fighters are all trash and the ones other promoters don't want and his best one, Santa Cruz, is one of the worst overall ones.
(this was also one of the worst mexicans against the 2nd best british fighter and at best he could edge him.)
You can definitely make the argument that Santa Cruz edged it but he couldn't even get one card. Hmm...
Wonder who this was set for...
Gaymon works in not mysterious ways.
Frampton's future probably runs into Russell who is the obvious featherweight goon Haymon is trying to build up here. Santa Cruz, Cuellar, Selby, and Frampton are just stepping stones to rebuild Russell and try to make people forget Lomachenko already schooled him.Comment

So what he goes 12rds. Everybody isn't a power puncher. Part of what makes a guy like Rigondeaux great is that he makes everybody look the same, just like Floyd did. Whether it was the local janitor or a top P4P fighter. Everybody looks the same against him. And if you weren't able to appreciate what he did to Donaire, you're not a real fight fan. And the reality is, he would do the exact same thing to both of the guys we saw tonight. Which is why both guys ducked him.Comment

As for tonight's fight, it's hard to get excited about a fight between two duckers. Was an excellent fight but it's still not want boxing fans truly want, which is #1 vs #2 in the division, not in a stable, in a division, in their primes.Last edited by Boxing Logic; 07-30-2016, 11:49 PM.Comment

Honestly, it was a close fight. I'm a huge LSC fan as well but watching the fight I had to give credit to Frampton, he won that fight. I see why some would want that draw but I think a rematch will happen anyway.Comment

If by again you mean for the second time in the last two years, then sure. Only best vs best fights he's made are Thurman-Porter and Frampton-Santa Cruz. And even those are diminished because Thurman-Garcia is more interesting than Thurman-Porter, Thurman-Pacquiao or Thurman-Floyd are more interesting than either, Crawford vs Thurman is as well, and because Frampton and Santa Cruz both ducked Rigondeaux. It's hard to get excited about a fight between two duckers. Was an excellent fight but it's still not want boxing fans truly want, which is #1 vs #2 in the division, not in a stable, in a division, in their primes.Comment
