Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia's Coach: We'd Love Terence Crawford in The Future!

New York - The landscape of boxing has changed. The old guard of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is at an end. The superstar run of Canelo Alvarez has begun with an opening for new stars to join. Trainer Robert Garcia believes it's time for his brother Mikey Garcia (32-0, 28 KO's) to step in.

If he was on the shelf for two years for not wanting to fight gamboa why the **** should we believe he'd want to fight the guy who ko'd him?

If he wants to fight all the best Top Rank and HBO fighters in his division, why did he hold out for years specifically to break his contract with Top Rank and by extension HBO, and then go and sign with the manager who basically never lets his top fighters fight the best HBO or Top Rank fighters or fight on HBO?

If Mikey actually wanted to fight these guys, he would have stayed with Top Rank just long enough to make those fights, finished out his contract with those huge fights, and then took all that momentum into a huge payday with Haymon and Showtime, the way that Floyd did. The fact he held out for years instead tells me he didn't want to fight any of those top HBO guys. Comments like this are probably designed just to give fans hope, win back fans, and repair his damaged reputation. This way when he does what most Haymon fighters do, and fights 3-4 tomato cans in a row, he can defend his reputation by saying "but remember, I already said I wanted to fight all those top guys! Remember!"

I'll believe it when he actually goes out of his way to fight any of those guys, rather than just talk about it, and rather than literally go out of his way to avoid fighting all those guys, which is exactly what his hold out from Top Rank amounted to.

I'd rather have Mikey Garcia vs Felix Verdejo at 135. Verdejo is setting for the WBO title vs Flanagan, which the fight Mikey wanted. 135 could come alive again very shortly!

Also, lets see if Garcia escapes the TR curse.

I was wondering about that too....I bought the fight and had a party at my house....my guests were not impressed....when Crawford was doing his running Postol should have just stood in the middle of the ring and should have stopped chasing Crawford....I suspect Kovalev and Ward will be the same....I will be careful next time...I want to be entertained.....the 12th round was great and my guests and I had that round as the most entertaining....the house went quiet for that round.

You make it seem like he was ducking gamboa. Fight won't happen anyway, he burned his bridges with top rank unless crawford leaves uncle bob.
