Can we, the fans, affect boxing? I'm not simply talking about buying or not buying PPV. I'm talking about, for example, starting a campaign that would force Canelo into fighting Golovkin at 160lbs in 2016. One so big that if he doesn't fight Golovkin, no one will ever respect him as a boxer again. Such things. Has it ever been done before? Could it work? If we hit Canelo in the bank by costing him fans, then he will have to fight Golovkin to get his fans back.

It will never work unless every paying boxing fan is in on this campaign and that's impossible. No campaign will ever force Canelo or any other fighter to fight someone if he doesn't want to. Canelo will fight whoever he damn well pleases and unless he starts losing fights or looking poor in the ring he will continue to be a huge star and make a fortune every time he fights. I remember not long ago the Canelo haters said he could never make 154 and he was trying to start his own 155 pound weight class. Yet here Canelo is challenging a 154 pound world champ for his title at the standard 154 pounds. Clearly the haters were wrong about Canelo trying to start a new 155 pound weight class. I'm sure he will also prove them wrong again by making 154 with no problem and once again becoming a world champion with a KO win. Off topic, I promised to visit you after the Santa Cruz vs Frampton fight however it turned out. I had predicted a KO win for Santa Cruz. Your pick of Frampton out boxing Santa Cruz was right on the mark. Frampton is one hell of a fighter and the decision should have been unanimous. Frampton seemed stronger than ever at 126. He is a fine, fast boxer and a strong puncher and he makes my top 10 pound for pound list. I am a big Frampton fan now. I still like Santa Cruz but he is a notch below Frampton and won't do any better in a rematch. Can we, the fans, affect boxing? I'm not simply talking about buying or not buying PPV. And I hope that I don't disappoint you by telling you that when Canelo faces Saunders, Canelo will get so badly outboxed that he will lose all respect from his fans if he gets a gift decision.Comment
