Yeah I agree, I think he knows he won't be able to sell many more big fights like this, he's worried lol

Its not like DLH's legacy will suffer at all from this fight.
Mayo needs this fight at this stage in his career.

How much money would he get if he fought someone other than DLH? I guaruntee you it would be alot less than $2,000,000. Mayorga's crying really took me by surprise. If he was confident in his ability to beat DLH, he would fight him for free, because winning this fight will launch him into more paydays. Despite all the tough talk, it looks there is doubt in his mind as to whether he can win. I really liked Mayorga before this...that he would bow down to DLH and beg for money really blew my mind.

Still it's hard to feel that sorry for anyone these days that deals with Don King, you know exactly what you're dealing with when you do business with him.

Mayorga is a punk. His heart isn't into the fight. He should quit whining about only having 2 million in the bank and go fight the real men in the division, like Oscar and Raul Frank.

First of all, all this talk about Mayorga being champ so he deserves more money is complete BS. Mayorga is not a champ, I don't care if he has his alphabet title. Who the hell did he beat to win the title? Michelle Pichiarillio? or whatever the f**k his name is. That does not mean he is the champ.

Two million is about what Mayorga is worth in this fight. He claims he was promised eight million, and as far as I am concerned he is lying through his teeth. There is no way they would promise that punk eight million, because there are plenty of good challengers who would do it for 2 million. If he was smart he would have lied and claimed he was promised an extra $250 000 or $500 000 and he might actually by able to shake people down for a bit extra. If he claims he was promised $8 million you know he is lying.

Also, he is lying when he claims that he won't fight if he doesn't see the money. He will fight, because if he doesn't his $2 million payday is gone and he probably won't even make half of that again for any fight for the rest of his career, so I have no doubt he will be fighting on Saturday.

                      Oscar: The fight is on!
                      No comment yet from Mayorga...
Despite statements to the contrary made by WBC junior middleweight champion Ricardo Mayorga at Wednesday’s final press conference, Saturday's challenger, Oscar De La Hoya, assures boxing fans that there will be a fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night. "The fight is on," said De La Hoya, who will be looking to add another world championship belt to his trophy case in the long awaited 'Danger Zone' main event. "I’m ready, Mayorga's ready, and we’re going to go to war on Saturday." Mayorga claimed on Wednesday that he would not fight this weekend if his contracted purse was not raised to eight million dollars, but De La Hoya believes Mayorga is playing a "head game" in the days leading to a bout. "I know he wants to get at me as bad as I want to get at him, and nothing’s going to stop this fight from happening," said De La Hoya. "I will not be denied my victory."
