He should wear gloves with more cushion near the knuckles because the gloves that he has been wearing gave him an unfair advantage. If Golovkin is doing it, it is not to entertain fans. He is doing it because Brook's team demanded it and it is the only way that Golovkin could have gotten the fight.

The commission only determines the weight of the gloves and approves the gloves chosen. The boxer who is the bigger draw can demand whatever the hell he wants. In Alvarez's case, he would probably do what De La Hoya did to Mayweather, which was to pick out Mayweather's gloves for him.

I think the UK has different rules regarding boxing gloves. IIRC the gloves Maidana wanted to use against Floyd are explicitly banned in the UK, for instance. Not sure whether or not that applies to GGG's gloves. More likely it was at the request of Brook.
