Though the win over Oscar was controversial, ultimately, Oscar gave the figth away by presuming too much and not giving enough of himself for history, for his legacy. Not one of the all time greats would have coasted out the final rounds in a fight of that magnitude.
The sad thing is Oscar, had he kept up what he'd started in the early rounds, could have beateen Trinidad and maybe even stopped him in the later rounds, which would have secured his legacy for all time; but he chose to play it safe.
Funny thing about boxing as compared to life. Sometimes you only get one chance and when I say one chance, I mean 1 chance to make your mark indisputedly. When that moment comes, you better make the most of it...Oscar didn't...and that's why his legacy will always be mired by questions.Comment
