    Top Rank doing its thing...

Its tough being a boxing fan these days, real tuff. BUT lets face it, Arum is great at what he does, he has an eye for talent. The future is still with Top Rank. P4P his future talents in Crawford, Valdez, Lomencheko, & Ramirez can make boxings future bright if we could only get these promoters and their EGOS to work together the sport would be great again. Thoughts?

With how the business works I think Arum actually does things the most optimal. He picks solid to great amateur fighters. He builds them up. He feeds the lesser of those guys to the better guys he picked up to boost up his best guys even more. He keeps things in house til a guy is big enough to bring in lesser outside guys or his guy is the A side in out of house promotions. Thats how you do it with how boxing currently operates.

The problem is few boxing fans want the sport to work like it does with all that in house **** that Arum excels at & is good for Top Rank the business.

See theres 2 sides to it man, Haymon pays his fighters well which im glad for the fighter but as a fan there is to much to be seen. Besides putting boxing on regular TV Haymon hasnt given much to the fight fan or to boxing. He is a manager first and foremost so his focus is on the fighter and not the fan or sport. I know Arum does BS ppv's but call me dumb but I like boxing so much I pay for it. I had a feeling Postol vs Crawford wasnt going to be the most crowd pleasing but title unification are rare especially against 2 undefeated guys.

One of the main problems is Bob Arum wants things his way. Boxing promoters have big Egos but if guys humbled themselves a little to the old man, I think hed do more business outside TR. Arum makes names in boxing and if some of these promoters want to get their fighters names out there, well they need to match their guys up against Arums fighters but as small as top rank is, its super talented and chances are most other promoters fighters going up against TR would lose.

Idk. I think Bob has done the math & if certain numbers don't fit with his expectations then the fight doesn't work regardless of anything else. I think Bob is actually more a prisoner to his accounting than to his or anyone elses ego. Thats why I think Bob is probably the guy in the business with the best ROI even if he's not the guy taking in the most money.

I could be wrong but I'd bet the farm on this fact, "Money runs the show! Period." There will be no match ups of any "known" fighters unless the money is right for all the players behind the scenes." Unfortunately money ruins alot of things these days.

Thought it was a great card. I enjoyed every fight on the PPV. Also thought benavidez, Valdez and Crawford all gave great performances and erased some of the doubt fans had in each.Only negatives IMO were the pricing and the commentating.

All around great night for TR. will be even better if the PPV exceeds expectations.

Top Rank is by far the best promoter in the sport at building stars. They do it over and over and over. It is really impressive. They fully understand the process of building a fighter towards stardom and then making them one.
