Mike Weaver against John Tate in 1980. Going into the 15th and final round, Weaver was hopelessly behind on points. With seconds left in the round, he lands a massive shot on Tate's chin, and Tate falls face first to the canvas out cold.

That, to me, is still the best comeback in a fight I've ever seen.

thats where alot of the blame lies. He was facing directly into the corner where the red light was flashing signaling there was less than 10 seconds left in the round. he failed to see it, a huge oversight.

      thumbs down to richard steele

Hands down with Political relivance, racial significance and two damned good fighters it would have to be Louis/Schmeling II. When the fight went down Hitler was beginning his march, blacks were still fighting to be viewed as equal by a ingnorant yet still racist america. And Joe made america proud. Black and white aswell as shoving some **** in Hitlers face.

It almost was that kid McCrary against Allan Green last week. That third round was crazy!

we are talking bout in the same fight although I can understand your angle but please do not belittle schmeling he was a very good fighter and a **** pawn and not by his wants choice or anything else. also read ferni pacheco's the fight doctors take on that fight had some interesting points of view its worth a look. in short max had more to loose than just the fight maybe the lives of his family and himself if he lost and he might have cracked under the presure. check it out its a good book worth a read intersting perspecives.

In my statement I never spoke poorly of Schmeling, I only stated that he was indeed a good fighter. I have studied pre-Hitler Germany as well as post Hitler Germany. I fully understand what Schmeling was to the ****s, a prize trophy. And also understand that Schmeling was not a ****, just a **** pawn. The guy could fight and I fully respect him for that.

I know he still won the fight, but Larry Holmes getting up against Ernie Shavers was unreal. What a ****ing right.
