Should be a fight for the ages. I can't recall in my lifetime seeing a light Heavyweight fight of this magnitude. The winner will surely be in the hall of fame. I think Kovalev will win but I wouldn't be surprised if the son of the devil won.

Cool. I didn't think that ish wasn't gonna get in the way of anything anyway - at worse Braehmer would get some step aside Euros, but this works out better. 18 months from the Mohammedi fight would bring it to Jan '17, so if Kovalev does beat Ward maybe Braehmer for early next year. Decent fight - maybe they should do it the Deutschland to save HBO a few $s
In the meantime Braehmer should take the Cleverly fight - I think it was proposed for the middle of September.Comment

So Braehmer is 'stripped' of his 'regular' title? Anyway, good to hear this cleared up rapidly. Ward cannot weasel his way out now.Comment

A couple of days ago the WBA announced that their light heavyweight champion, Sergey Kovalev, must face Juergen Braehmer next in a mandatory fight. Braehmer holds the WBA's 'regular' title at 175-pounds while Kovalev is the 'super' champion. WBA President Gilberto Mendoza Jr. has promised to eliminate the issue of multiple champions at the weight by mandating the 'regular' and 'super' champions to face each other in order to establish a single WBA champion in each division.

Ward next, Braehmer in '17 sounds excellent. Now Ward has to accept his fate and just deal with it in the fall. Hey, at least it gets him a good final big paycheck.Comment
