Not worst in a bad way, but one of the strangest i've seen was Ricky Burns v Jose Gonzalez.

Burns was getting a pasting for 9 rounds, then out of nowhere Gonzalez was pulled out or retired on his stool. He was tiring a little but nowhere near enough to retire. Wasn't hurt or anything because he was smashing Burns to pieces. Something still doesn't seem right about it. It was meant to be a fairly routine defence for Burns in his hometown and then he gets smashed around the ring for 9 rounds, on the verge of losing the title and then his opponent doesn't come out for the next round.

Lewis vs McCall was one of the strangest things I've ever seen in boxing.

Maybe not as strange as the Fan Man or the Ear Bite, but it's up there. I've never seen a man just mentally break down like that.

I seem to remember Gonzalez was gassing or hurt his hands, something along those lines and his team pulled him out? Might be getting it mixed with another fight but Burns was starting to come on. Very similar to a fight Quigg had too.

Lewis wasn't even throwing proper punches against a defenseless man, he was so shook of getting his chin rattled again. I remember how exasperated Manny was...wouldn't be the first time in Lewis' career either lol

I dunno about Blackwell. It's easy to say so on hindsight but the reality is, at no point did Blackwell stop fighting and a lot of Eubank's shots did not look like they were going to drop the guy. So I dunno, what would have been the basis of the stoppage at an earlier stage?

I feel the fight was stopped at the right time but Blackwell just got badly hurt. Kinda like that heavyweight fight a couple years back, at every stage in that fight Magomed was hitting back. A stoppage around 5 or 6 would have just looked too early and people/his corner would have complained.

These aren't outright bad stoppages by any means.

Just that he did not go down, Blackwell was getting hit to the head way too many times & his forehead was swollen & one eye almost shut.. His corner should have known better as it was pretty obvious he was fighting on fumes & was throwing 1 punch for every 5-6 punches..

Though I thought the Spike vs Eubank Jr stoppage was premature, I think it was valid though.. Spike was getting hit without landing much of his own.. It is "Live to fight another day.." concept

I remember this. BUrns was really starting to come on, broke Gonzalez and gonzalez didn't have the mental strength to cope
