Fres Oquendo is back
Heavyweight contenders Javier "The Monster" Mora (20-2-1, 18 KOs) and former title challenger Fres "The Big O" Oquendo (25-3, 16 KOs) collide on Thursday, May 25th at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, CA. Both fighters need a win to stay in championship contendership. Back in March, Mora was awarded a TKO over Kirk Johnson when Johnson was unable to continue after slipping on the canvas and dislocating his right knee in the seventh round. After six rounds of back-and-forth action, Mora was slightly behind on two scorecards while the third judge had the fight a draw. Oquendo, who suffered two consecutive losses in title bids, is one fight back into the comeback trail. Oquendo lost a controversial decision to Chris Byrd for the IBF title in September 2003 and that was followed by a TKO loss in the 11th round to John Ruiz for the WBA belt in April 2004. Also in action is former champ and top rated light heavyweight contender Julio Gonzalez plus the undefeated Dirrell brothers - Andre (6-0, 4 KOs) and Anthony (7-0, 7 KOs)
