Completely different contexts. For Golovkin it was either accept Brook as an opponent or look around to renegotiate for another fight and lose his September fight date. Canelo went out of his way and sought out a fight with Khan.

Either way GGG having Brook come up from welterweight is better than having to fight some journeyman MW or JMW. I didn't really care about Canelo fighting Khan either (aside from the fact he wasn't fighting Golovkin again) I always thought people get way too worked up over the miniscule amount of weight inbetween weight classes.

Canelo doesn't deserve to shake his head at anybody after the move he pulled when he fought Khan.

          both fights are garbage.

people forgetting that 12 fighters had to duck golovkin before it got to this point is a problem. the fight sucks, but if you want to be objective you have to consider how they got to this point.

canelo could fight anybody in the world. anybody. he fought amir khan. that will likely be the biggest american PPV this year, ffs!

golovkin would prefer to fight you instead, guy. trust.

Canelo should cut of his KCID and throw is as far as he can after being such a pooooooseeey. Whats funny is the dudes who have been avoided in their respective weight divisions. Canelo is a pure idiot in my eyes and im a mexican. HOPE THIS OTHER BUSTA BEATS HIS ASS.

"All of his opponents have been the easy road," Alvarez told ******.com in a phone interview. "He has never fought someone who has really pushed him or taken him to the next level. All of his opponents have been easy opponents."

All the more reason why you should have taken the fight. Did you think no one was going to ask you how Liam Smith's resume afforded him a fight with you?

"The main difference is that Brook is going up two weight classes," said Alvarez, who has been roasted for facing 154-pound titleholder Liam Smith on Sept. 17. "I only made Amir Khan go up one weight class. People say it was two but it was only one and this guy Brook is moving up two to fight GGG at 160. And that's the reason it's good not to speak or make comments on things that are out there."

You made Khan go up to 155, while you went up to 175+. You forgot to mention that part. I guess being first to fight a WW gives you the backing to speak out about another MW fighting a WW???

                He is right:

13 pounds are more than 8, period.

And Canelo is a counterpuncher, GGG is a machine of ko's.

Canelo has the same height and reach of Khan. GGG is bigger in all ways than Khan.

Neither gets a pass. However, Canelo is doubling down on his hypocrisy by implying that a boxer won't get a shot at him for such a weak resume despite choosing Liam Smith as his next fight. It's all just double talk. Rightly so that boxing fans should shake their head at him instead.

But he's wrong for saying it in lieu of choosing Liam Smith instead.
