Smith is the most paper champ in boxing, given a belt.

I have a bad feeling Canelo's going to be weight drained for this fight. He hasn't fought at Super Welter since 2013. That could spell disaster against a big puncher like Beefy.

It's possible Canelo has problems with the cut, but with his resources he can hire one of the top sports nutritionists that can help him make it as easy as possible rather than rely on Chepo and his cooking.

Beefy's not a big puncher at all. He has 13 KO's in 23 fights and he hasn't fought anyone high level. He's still a good crafty boxer, but speed & power are not the top assets in his tool box. I could see Alvarez being too powerful for him, and Smith not being skilled enough to evade Canelo's fast hands.

I was at Canelo/Trout in San Antonio. Great fight environment, the crowd was so hyped by the time Canelo came out.
I was at Jerry World for 49ers/Cowboys 2 years ago and that stadium is something to behold.
I wonder if they can sell it out for Mexican Independence day weekend. That would be an awesome scene.

Most people don't know **** about boxing. Golden Boy understands this concept very well, that's why they're going to make an absolute killing with this fight, financially speaking. A Canelo fight is an event more than it is an actual sporting competition.

90% of the attendees of that fight won't have the slightest idea of what's going on or who the hell Liam Smith is, just like 90% of them didn't know who the hell Kahn, Lara, Angulo, or Kirkland were. They just go to see and be seen and be part of the atmosphere.

I was at Pacquiao-Clottey, great atmosphere. But a stadium is too big for boxing. I spent the entire time watching the fights from the big screen, as did most. I guess it was not that bad for $50, cheaper than buying PPV

Saw plenty of empty seats at Canelo-Khan. It was fun, but definitely not a sell out.

Canelo is a joke here, I think boxing fans are a bit smarter than people think. It's why Khan vs Canelo failed.

It would be terrible for the future of the sport.

Oscar says he wanted to change the sport and have the best fighting the best.

Canelo invited GGG into the ring, promised to fight him.

Now he moves further away from GGG and fights basically a weak unknown 3rd grade beltholder.

You want to see more cowards and more fighters ducking and avoiding even their mandatories? You want fighters/promoters who lie to the fans, basically don't care what the fans want to see? You go, enjoy killing the sport you love.
