People from the beginning are always have been caught up in appearences with Wilder. Yes he does not move in a standard boxing way, and his technique not how you wold teach anyone.
However, appearance is only judging a book by it's cover and it is why detractors have been so off on Wilder because they get hung up on the negatives that they miss the positives that help to make up for it. He is not an easy guy to fight because no one fight like him and one mess up puts someone in a real problem against him, not to mention he is long which allows him to get away with fighting rather open because you can be open when out of punching range of the other guy. Someone will eventually take advantage especially as injuries pile up and he loses his great athleticism, but that doesn't make him average either.
