Yes it was Master Ken, too much hugging spoils the sport we call boxing.
You don't prevent an opponent from countering by hugging. That's just not boxing. too much fouling by Floyd and not a single point deduction from Bayless tsk tsk tsk...
Master Ken is from your cloth when it comes to boxing knowledge, you two w'd have a good discussion.
WBA rules
A list of common fouls that may be committed by boxers that may be cause for penalty or
disqualification is as follows:
...
13. Excessive holding the opponent or maintaining a clinch.
...
in other words..
Holding is a foul in boxing. Points get taken away if you keep it up, so fighters don't stink out the fight. Floyd gets away with it though, because he is a protected fighter. Fans don't know the rules and think it's ok to hug like Floyd does, to avoid ever facing aggression on the ropes. They think the ref is supposed to just let Floyd off the hook for it every time, and even help him fight that fight by breaking the fighters right away, and not ever asking for them to ever fight out.
He just resets the fighters as soon as Floyd grabs, essentially taking Pacquiao right off him - right when Pacquiao worked to get him where he needs him. This was making Pacquiao waste his time, by putting Floyd back on the ropes again, and again, with no use. "Holding and deliberately maintaining a clinch" is a foul in boxing. You lose points for it, and you can be disqualified for it. The ref is not supposed to help facilitate you breaking the rules of boxing - which exist to ensure that nobody can do what Floyd actually did.
That was not boxing, that was complete bull**** and the rules of boxing do not condone that at all. So-called boxing fans just don't know the damn rules though. Rather than throwing the book at Floyd, Bayless (the ref) let him get away with it all night.
That's why this fight ******. Anybody who can run and shoot a jab would have a world title too, if the ref let them do what Floyd did in every fight. Problem is they can't. Amir Khan for example get points taken for much less holding, and people call it what it is, and give him a lot of grief for it - and any Amir Khan fight is so totally insignificant compared to what this fight was.
When Floyd does it though, even in the fight of the century? ****** Floyd Mayweather fans call it a masterclass. Oh they don't know what the rules are, but they have the audacity to pretend they know what a masterclass is.
