That quote seems kind of weird, but Ali would probably kick Holmes ass if Ali hadn't prepared wrong for that fight. Also Ali was much past his prime.

I think it shows that as a person, Holmes was as good as advertised: a very bitter individual who always resented the fact that he overtook Ali and people hated him for it.

If boxing was all about talent, Holmes woul dhave had no problem. But Ali made miracles and uplifted a generation of people. It's hard to upend all that on boxing ability alone.

Can't say I blame Holmes all that much, though. Wouldn't you have been pissed off in his position?

Holmes was known for things like this like the time he said Rocky Marciano couldn't hold his jock strap or something like that. You can understand why he said it.He was a great hw champ and was overlooked because he fell right in between the Ali and Tyson era's.I would be bitter if I was as great as Holmes and was always overlooked because of the mouth of Ali and the power of Tyson. He may have had more all around skill than both although I think that Ali is the greatest.I would think he would be Top 10 all time.

I really feel sorry for Holmes. He resented that he was not recognized as one of the greatest in boxing. Sorry but he did not have "carisma", looks, eloquence,he also adopted Ali style which is not original and on top of everything else, he went and said ****** things about Marciano, one of the best fighters of all times.

                  Holmes lacked a nemises.
His most well known fight was against an unskilled Cooney.
He was never truly tested. By the time Spinks came on to the scene, people were board with Holmes. Their two fights were not exactly glory ridden fights. Also, we had a split in the title with Holmes. He lacked a certain character, whihc is why, prime for prime, Ali probably would have beaten Holmes.

Who care who ALi used to ****? We all would. We're guys.

Yeah man who cares in the end? A guy's business outside the ring is just that: his, and if he doesn't let it interfere with his work in the ring, leave it alone.
