He was the front-runner for Ward's proposed fight on the Cotto Vs Canelo card, so if he wasn't top pick..he must of been certainly close to being so.

His first pick couldn't get out of a chemotherapy appointment on fight night.

You have to concede that Ward ought to beat Brand pretty handily. I think this fight is only problematic if Ward has a hard time.

Otherwise- I think the idea is to try to get a master class performance at 175 under his belt just ahead of Kovalev. If Ward could get his first KO win at 175 then I'd say the ends justifies the means. That probably won't be in the cards though, Brand hasn't been stopped before, and I don't know that Ward can do it unless Brand severely overextends himself into exhaustion.

It would definitely help the Ward. vs Kovalev promotional effort hit much higher levels to get a highlight reel win slipped into Ward's 2016 run. They probably assumed Kovalev would have another KO win from Chilemba.

Can't wait for Kovalev vs Ward.

At least he's not going to wearing an ankle bracelet in the ring. And can actually train instead of getting permission from his P.O. everytime he wants to step outside his house!

Dominic Wade looked WORSE than Mike Alvarado did against Brandon Rios!!!

They both were probably allowed 20 mins a week on the yard to train...Then back in the cell.

"Word circulated during fight week that Alvarado had only truly trained for the fight for two weeks if that. He was also dealing with legal issues outside the ring, as he faces jail term"

              Hmmm sounds like Wade?

I can't BELIEVE K2 bamboozled GGG Fans into that SHT fight! Should of told the TRUTH and CANCELED/Postponed it for a better fight. HBO/K2 both LIED to the people.

Budget aside, there are very few willing and available fighters to face Ward. That is just fact. As for Shabranskyy, he was offered the fight per Golden Boy and the Ward camp and turned it down. I was told he asked for more than double the available HBO money for the entire bout.
