Movement and the jab will give Kov alot of problem. If Ward can handle the weight class, Kov is in there for a shock.
kinda how I figured it...Still have found decent links to watch a good amount of rounds...quality sucks
the jab and movement, elusiveness is why I was picking ward but Kovalevs team did a good job finding an opponent with those attributes.
I was checking him out last week (chilemba) and I figured he'd lose or last late until the final bell. He is quick but he isnt aggressive enough and has mental lapse it seems
fight should be on youtube in its entirety, but for now you'll probably need to rely on russian commentary, as HBO is pretty good about taking full fights off of youtube for hte first few weeks / months. evidently HBO carried this fight on a delay, but i didn't see it there.
chilemba was what we thought he was, and he served as a very good preparation for andre ward. good chin, good gas tank, tricky guy, and he came prepared to try and win. i think he really thought he had a shot until the left hook to the liver that came before the knockdown. that thing totally changed the game.
you saw a look on his face like, "damn, i wish that thing had hit me upstairs, because i'm going to be moving slowly for the rest of the night."
there's only one andre ward, but i really think chilemba is the best guy on the planet to prep you for that fight other than bernard hopkins.
I've predicted everything about the outcome of Chilemba/Kovalev fight and my prediction was 100% right. And I've said about Kovalev's flaws in some other thread about Ward
Kovalev's biggest flaw is the fact that it seems to be really hard for him to maintain the balance and stay firmly on his feet, especially when he moves forward and try to attack. He seems to forget about his defense when he's trying to attack his opponent. I can see Ward taking advantage of that, I know that Virgil Hunter study all Ward's opponents and I bet he noticed that hole in Kovalev defense already, Ward will be trying to catch Kovalev off balance, that's how Caparello dropped him by the way

been searching since I got off of work last night around 11 pm
I literally have found grainy crappy 5 min videos
I guess I missed the wave of full fights
Last week I watched a few of chilemba fights...he is a good fighter....thought he'd get stopped late
get to hear kov got some solid rounds in
I want kov/ward at their best for an epic fight for us fans

at the moment....ward probably has the best catch and shoot game in boxing
he sorta looks like a kung fu practitioner.....offense and defense is seamless.
Thats how roy, pernell and comp fought....catch and shoot, slip a shot and shoot
