Well, good fighters can have mediocre nights. There was this fighter, who's name escapes me, that was flattened by Darnell Boone and then saved by the bell to end the 4th round. The dude was hurt bad, on serious kweer street and holding on for dear life. To his credit though, he went on to win the fight quite handily.

If Kovalev lands even a quarter of as many punches on Ward that he did Chilemba, how do you think Ward handles them? Pascal & Hopkins are sturdy guys, both were taken out of their comfort zones with Kovalev's offense. If Ward had Chilemba's durability to absorb Kovalev's punches, I'd be worried for Kovalev.

When have you ever seen Andre Ward take any kind of sustained punishment from anyone? Ward debut at 175, didn't look super great in his fight with Barrera, yet Barrera was still only able to land on something like 15% of his shots.

Ward's two fight camps removed from the Kovalev fight, and you think Kovalev is going to be able to tee off on Ward, after reading what he was able to do with Chilemba?

No excuses needed at all, only 1 fight but sadly I do think fans put unrealistic Pressure on these fighters in which they feel the need to be Flawless and Perfect EVERY FIGHT and if they're not then the people who are annoyed with their fans will try to call them "Overrated"!

Kovalev is a BEAST we all know that but he is not invincible or unbeatable and he never claimed to be, he just have some extremely ****** fans who let PRIDE take over and they start running their mouth while putting these crazy expectations on him.

I had a feeling Chilemba might avoid the stoppage. Kovalev's reputation precedes him, Chilemba had a good safety-first fight plan and he executed it, and got the L he probably felt coming before it was done.

This fight is going to incite Andre Ward, but I think Kovalev will be in different shape come November. The version of Kovalev that just beat Chilemba probably doesn't catch Ward nearly as much and gets hit much more.

I didn't read what Kovalev did to Chillemba I watched. Chillemba's a guy you can beat on all day and he's not getting stopped. I said all that when the fight was announced that it'd likely go the distance and that it would be good practice for the Ward fight.

Ward's defense keeps him from taking repeated blows, but he's going to get tagged by Kovalev and we'll see how durable he is. Barrera with his much slower reflexes was putting hands on Ward, I'm confident Kovalev will land even more, but with accumulative damage. We'll see in November!

Chilemba is a difficult fighter to beat cleanly, I remember his fight with Bellew. He just had that old school style and ring generalship that makes it difficult for anyone to look good against.

Kovalev will land some on Ward but people tend to forget Ward is the type of fighter that only allows 1 shot to get off on him. No combinations. Plus he is MUCHHHHHHHHH better on the inside than Kovalev. TAKING ALL BETS.

Yeah, i read the article in Yahoo about the Simakov's death. I definitely got the impression that Kovalev prefers to fight away in America, just because he has no distractions. I would say that he prefers to be the away fighter the way he fought BHop in AC and Pascal in Canada. There is no way fighting in the same arena didn't bring back some kind of memories, subconscious or not. I still need to watch the fight, but it sounds like he wasn't 100%.
