Ward and Kovalev will have to pull out all stops to beat one another. Haven't been this excited for a fight in a long while./

It's a lazy comparison, for sure. While they do a few things similarly, Chilemba is loose, lacking the precision, explosiveness, and constant threat that Ward brings. Andre is always thinking, he won't "take turns" with you like Chilemba was doing. Kovalev could feel free to strike at Chilemba without too much worry of consequence as Chilemba would shell up. Ward asserts himself and actively works counters.
Chilemba was frequently on the back foot and let himself get pined against the ropes many times. Not something Ward allows to happen very often at all. Ward was the one Walking down Froch.
Chilemba did a little work on the inside, so that's a similarity, even though Ward is a completely different beast inside. Ward doesn't 'hold', he grapples and grinds unlike anyone else.
Chilemba also threw some body jabs but he didn't use them to set anything up like Ward does.
I don't think they are very similar BUT, this fight did expose a lot of things Kovalev needs to work on and in that regard, it was an excellent fight to take before Ward. It was also great footage for Ward to study so it works both ways.Comment

Haven't watched the fight. A buddy told me this was as bad as he's seen Kovalev in awhile. I'll watch it if I'm awake when the replay airs. I don't think there's any reason for alarm in the Kovalev camp. These kinda fights are tough. One tune-up before a big fight is tough enough to be 100% focused for. A second is asking a lot. And considering he was fighting at home. Its not totally shocking that he less than impressed. He'll be better for Ward.
It was the jab and movement, and Kovalev seemed to wear Chilemba down rather than adapt to him. Kovalev and JDJ have a few things to work on.Comment

I doubt that you own the shoes on your feet
firstly..... saying it, does not make it so
just like lil'G saying that he is like Hopkins, does not make it so
just like you, saying that you are a boxer, does not make it so
..... also, as a great man once said.....
