Why do fans write fighters off after a bad night?

I still think ward vs kovalev is still 50-50
What are your genuine thoughts after recent performances regarding both fighters?
    Who wins and how?

He didn't have a bad night. The problem is that most idiots on the site only have 2 categories of fighters - 'superstars' or 'bums'. Not all 'bums' are created equal.

Chilemba was a legit top10 LHW with good defense. His two losses before Kovalev were both on close decisions against Alvarez, who's currently a top5 LHW, and against Bellew, who's currently a top 5 Cruiser.

The fight was exactly what it was supposed to be. People just suck at being objective. This will get revived again when Ward destroys Brand in 4 rounds. The trolls will say "Kovalev lost against his bum while Ward dominated his".

Because most sports fans are highly reactionary and always looking for the slightest thing to criticize in order to justify their opinions about fighters being overrated or underrated.

Maybe Chilemba showed why Ward will outclass Kovalev. Maybe Kovalev had a bad night. Maybe this showed absolutely nothing and no one should be changing their opinions on Kovalev/Ward. We'll see when they fight.

"You're only as good as your last fight"

Also, lose a round = bum status.

Bad night? All I saw was Kovalev chasing him around and even dropped him. I''m super lost.

Some people just look for any chance to down another fighter. Fight went like I thought it would, Chilemba does enough to survive, with his coconut head he wasn't getting stopped.

The same people ragging on Kovalev now, you can probably find quotes of them saying Hopkins would school Kovalev. Same people who later said Hopkins was too old. Same people who in late November will say Ward was shot from his long layoff.

I don't see Kovalev losing to Ward.
