Comments Thread For: The Mess in The Middleweight Division

By Cliff Rold - Boxing's richest glamour classes have often been heavyweight, middleweight, and welterweight. Business is picking up at heavyweight and steady at welterweight. Then there is middleweight. In the age of social media, it's almost an oxymoron to say the following: Let's not overreact...

So whats next after Kell Brook? Another 147lber? Another mandatory. This is my problem with Golovkin, K2 and his fans. Whats next? Wait wait wait for guys to fight him at MW. They dont want to fight. Just like guys didn't want to fight Paul Williams at 147, You know what he did? He moved up. Its time EVERYONE starts expecting more from this guy. Because excusing his opposition because people are ducking him is old.

But he's a small middleweight. Sure Brook is moving up two full weight divisions but he's a huge welterweight though. Poor GGG, leave him alone man. GGG mentally KO'd everyone in and around his weight division, it's about time these welterweights felt the wrath of GODlovkin as well.

It's ridiculous. I dont think any fighter has gotten as much leeway for such horrible opposition in the face of high expectations. If people want to call him the most ducked fighter in history, the greatest MW of this era, cool. But lets get on with it already. Start doing something of significance or stop shoving his supposed greatness down our throats. It'll be interesting to see his team's next move. No BJS, no Canelo, no Eubank. I suspect they'll wait around for Jacobs, but if they don't get that fight then what? Thats what i wanna see.

Blame Sergio Martinez who gave the title to the highest bidder. Honorary mentions to Miguel Cotto and Canelo who likewise showed no cojones.

You want to see him move up to see him lose. Your agenda couldn't be more obvious.

I think there are plenty of 168lbers he can beat. I want him to move up so I dont have to see his mismatches. Wanting to see 50/50 fights should be what any boxing fans want. Wanting to see mismatches, on the other hand, is for fanboyism.
