Mmmmm. Hard to think of a better opponent they could have found. Have a lil look down the LHW rankings. Stevenson? No. Eleiders fighting Sad Chad. Joe Smith or Fonfara? No. Beterbiev? Just fought. Braehmer? Good luck with that. Pascal III? Cleverly II? Fatass Jr?

Yeah, sure Kovalev has to be an overwhelming favourite, but Chilemba's a tough dude who's good at making guys look bad. Kinda like the Bika of 175. As good a fight as could have been made waiting for November.

Chilemba is one of Duva's fighters so it's an easy fight to make and besides Kovalev hardly needs to prove himself against a top 10 - we know he's the best, but Ward is going from fighting mediocre tune-ups to Kovalev. It's a quantum leap he's going to be making come November. He appears to be underestimating the Krusher.

Chilemba's scrappy style (I agree with what you said; the Bika of 175) might show some gaps in Kov's game that Ward would take advantage of. It could possibly give us more of an indicator of how that fight will go down if Chilemba can get inside and smother/frustrate.

I think it's an interesting fight, very possibly just another mismatch but you never know!..

Exactly. If Kovalev crushes the crafty and slick Chilemba, it's definitely a statement leading up to the Ward fight.

it's funny, people act like alvarez is a big fight for stevenson but kovalev fighting the guy who beat alvarez (in reality) is a **** fight? goes to show who is the real champion at LHW

ya i have no problem with either ward or kovalevs fight both give fighters chance at a tuneup and lets them stay active and pocket some money. the other option was neither of them fight before their fight. was smart decision tho make the date public before hand tho so that these fights can be seen for what they are and thats stay active fights
