Comments Thread For: Bob Arum breaks down the progress of his 2012 Olympic class

In 2012 Top Rank signed several of the top Olympians from the London Games. So far to date out of that group only 2008 and 2012 gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko - who has won belts at 126 and 130 pounds - has captured a world title.

That's an impressive class. Arum has an eye for talent.

When i was watching the games i knew the right thing was to sign all the prospects, arum did that, and even when he is somehow with only a few elite boxers, he is full of prospects.

If they were doing good ArScum wouldn't have to hype up their progress. To Rank has lost the battle to Goldenboy and Haymon. Haymon will either be banned for his illegal activities or he will go broke. ArScum is the 2001 version of Pernell Whitaker trying to avoid Death Haymakers from the 1986 version of Mike Tyson Grim Reaper. Goldenboy Promotions is the only place for true winners.

Compare 2012 Olympic classes, Top Rank vs Al Haymon vs Golden Boy, and it's not even close

-Raushee Warren [14-1, WBA bantamweight champion]
            -Errol Spence Jr [20-0; IBF #1, WBC #5, WBA #5, WBO #3]
-Dominic Breazeale [17-1; IBF #9, title challenger]
            -Jamel Herring [15-1]
            -Marcus Browne [18-0; WBC #10, WBA #7, IBF #5, WBO #9]
            -Michael Hunter [12-0; WBA #14, WBO #13]
            -Terrel Gausha [18-0]
            -Ievgen Khyrytov [13-0; WBC #5, WBA #15, IBF #14, WBO #15]
            -Oscar Molina [13-1-1]

Huh you're right, looks like Top Rank is well ahead of Haymon here. That's not a very impressive list you posted, only Spence is an elite prospect

Haymon signed most of the Americans, Arum signed everyone else.

I agree. Haymon's is decent but not more than half as good TR's crew. Lomachenko alone blows Haymon's class away. The fighter who has done the best with Haymon weighs 118 pounds. Haymon already cashed in Breazeale and Herring just got exposed.

Spence will be something special and I think Khhrytov will be too. That said I would rather have Loma, Verdejo, Valdez, Ramirez and Gvozdyk

Errol Spence Jr is something else, though (also, imo, Michael Hunter Cruiserweight and Khhrytov middleweight look like the goods too).

Would take Errol Spence Jr alone over Top Rank's 4, without much waver tbh; a handsome American, seemingly southpaw cross between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Ray Leonard, who could end up fighting 147/154/160, and be on top for the next ten years is a massive coup; anything else is upside, imo.
