Comments Thread For: Loeffler: Golovkin-Eubank Next Best Alternative To Saunders Fight

If Gennady Golovkin heads overseas to fight Chris Eubank Jr. in the United Kingdom, then Eubank should thank to the only person to beat him so far as a pro - middleweight titleholder Billy Joe Saunders.

The Eubanks stalling to get even more money, might even pull out from the things I heard. Even Hearn said GGG has agreed to everything and from their side its a go. Now Hearn says at the end of this week.. well.

GGG will reign supreme for as long as he likes. It's good to have an undisputed champion. The only one in boxing. Well Kovalev would be as well if it wasn't for chickenson

No this isnt the next best alternative, Lara is, if GGG want to prove himself asap then fight Lara @ 160, he is proven and a tricky opponent and he has been calling GGG out for a while now, and afaik GGG hasnt responded, while i believe GGG would be too much for Lara i dont see why Loefflers hasnt made it his top priority to make the GGG-Lara fight, why fight Eubank? sure hes entertaining and flashy and acctually a pretty good fighter but he doesnt have a shot at all right now against GGG, he aint prepared, and Eubank is easy to hit so no matter how good his chin is it wont last against GGGs power

So moral of the story make GGG vs Lara instead, its the only viable option for GGGs legacy at this time, its really the only opponent right now (that is willing to face him) that will test GGGs full skillset, maybe next year Andrade, JRock etc etc might be ready but for now just make Lara vs GGG what dafuq are you waiting for

Happy to see a Lara fight but to be frank Eubank Jr brings a hell of a lot more money and recognition to casuals. Brits must be getting close to outnumbering US boxing fans at this point.

Either fighter is a step down from Jacobs, Saunders or Canelo but what the hell.

Lara has never fought at 160, nor handled lesser fighters that well, he was dropped hard twice by Angulo. It would be a 1 sided beatdown, Lara brings nothing new to the table. Nobody wants to see it.

In all fairness, Eubank Jr has been far more vocal about getting the fight than Lara. And it's the far more lucrative fight. And Lara isn't proven at 160. We're still yet to hear if Lara actually instructed his manager to make the GGG fight...the last thing any of us have ever heard about it was that his team never tried to contact Loeffler about it. Saying you want the fight, & trying to actually get the fight are two different things. And lastly, Lara is a Showtime fighter, which makes all kinds of negotiations difficult. All those factors are against Lara getting the GGG fight.

It's a good fight but Lara is a154 pounder and doesn't bring money. Put Lara against a Top 10 middleweight first. (but they'll probably all duck him)

I haven't even heard of anything from Lara since he looked crappy against Vanes. I think Lara is focused on 154 but again, haven't heard anything about him for a minute.

I think the difference here is Eubank is running towards a Golovkin fight and his promoter is doing everything to make the fight happen in the UK with good money that comes with it. I haven't heard anything about team Lara in talks with K2 but maybe I missed an article idk
