It's hard to tell who the best is when each champion isn't really in a rush to unify. I think it's great what ward is doing, win lose or draw. Boxing is in a great place right now. I hope it gets to a point where theirs a meaningful fight every weekend.

In a perfect world we would get a tournament with the 6 fighters he name as the best at 47....

The writer thinks that Garcia's resume suggests he's the best welterweight out there. I'd say Danny is still untested at 147, despite being the WBC champ.
I don't see his wins vs Malignaggi and Guerrero as that impressive.
Garcia has still to face a top WW and the way he's protecting his "O" we won't be seeing that fight ant time soon.

he's basing it on overall competition faced regardless of weight class. Canelo is viewed as the best challenge for ggg but Canelo has never fought a true mw. Same logic.

Spence is the best (so they'll duck him)

Spence will suffer from the same thing GGG does. He potentially KO's you, so fighters won't take the risk.

That's sound logic to me. Spence already was seen as too dangerous before he fought Algieri. Now no one is calling out Spence...& Kell Brook is right in his sights. Curiously enough, no one calls out Tim Bradley either...and i know he's not that dangerous. The curious nature of boxers protecting a 0, huh?

I liked the Joe Louis question. No one is ever going to be able to emulate how Louis used to fight...ever. And currently, that HW division is stacking up to be a nice one.
