In the Broner/Maidana fight, I remember in the later rounds (possibly the last round) when Broner hit Marcos with a very good shot. Marcos looked like he was in a little bit of trouble there. I'm not surprised at his assessment because of that. Broner gets a lot of flak for that fight, but he fought Marcos like a man...though he did try to fake being hurt by an illegal blow. That was a bit of a b*tch move. lol

broner had him virtually out on his feet at the end of the 11th, IIRC. great, great fight that one. how good the fight was gets lost in how happy NSB was to see broner lose and be humbled :lol1. that fight was classic.

no, he was eating a lot of punches. the shot that rocked him through the minute rest was after the bell, yes, but broner had been landing clean counters. and does a punch not do damage or add to the drama [again, maidana was virtually out on his feet] simply because it was after the bell?

and maidana didn't hit him back because he was all but out on his feet. he literally hadn't recovered by the time the 12th had started.

I've always liked maidana. He gave Floyd his due. Floyd had a good chin and of course his defense was second to none. Is it that surprising to hear from a fighter or a fan Larry?

Broner has to stop trying to fight like Floyd and maximize his own strengths and mask his weaknesses, he's a completely different athlete. Much more physical than Mayweather.

Yeah, i've always said this. Broner basically fights in a way that is not really suited to his attributes.

I think he did get caught up in the whole trying to fight like Floyd thing, but it's a style that nobody else can really do that effectively. Floyd has spent his whole life mastering it and it was perfectly suited to his strengths. If Broner spent the time honing his own style to suit the gifts he has, he would be a much better fighter.

I think he just lacks a bit of self awareness and tries to be something he's not. He's the kind of guy that would probably listen to a trainer and their game plan and then thinks he knows better anyway and do whatever he wants. He probably needs a no nonsense trainer who's going to get him fighting to his strengths. There isn't many fighters in boxing that have as much natural ability as Broner, but there are guys who know how to fight in a way best for them, hence why Maidana beat him. Maidana was under no illusions that he's some slick boxer, so he never tried to be.

Victor Ortiz: This is the hardest puncher I’ve faced. He didn’t drop me three times in our fight for nothing. Yet, I knocked him out.

BEST SKILLS
Mayweather and Morales: Although two totally different styles these guys really know how to box and to get away from dangerous situations to come back with their own arsenal.

BEST OVERALL
Mayweather: Simply the best of his time. Undoubtedly the best I’ve ever faced is Floyd Mayweather. Too smart, slick and also has a tough chin. I put a lot of pressure on him, especially in the first fight, and I guess it was such a close bout. In fact, I thought I had won the fight when the final bell rang. He was never able to do anything in that first encounter and I was the aggressor throughout. The rematch was different since he took the bike. And when Floyd does that there‘s not much you can do to catch him.
