Comments Thread For: Thurman To Danny Garcia: I'm Gonna Keep Asking To Fight You!

WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (27-0, 22KOs) is not planning to back away from his demand for a unification fight with WBC champion Danny Garcia (32-0, 18KOs). Last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Thurman retained his title with a 'Fight of The Year' close points verdict over former IBF champion Shawn Porter.

Slow down. I'd like to see a unified welterweight champion along with every other boxing fan out there. Allow the champions to make some defenses of their title before doing a unification bout.

Why? What's the better fights than Vargas/Brook Garcia/Thurman and then the winners fighting??

What's wrong with putting Timothy Bradley, Errol Spence, Amir Khan, Lamont Peterson, Andre Berto, Adrian Broner, Frankie Gomez into the mix? There are a lot of fights to be made in the division.

I like Thurman's attitude. To give Garcia his dues as far as the belt holders go at 147, resume wise he edges it. He does seem to have been fighting a bit of a defensive rear guard action since Herrera gave him a reality check though. He's due a live one. This'd be the fight for me.

PBC would do well to put on a Super Six style tournament at 147lb with an open invite to the few remaining talents that they haven't signed up.

                  This would be freaking awesome!
Arguably a last chance saloon for people like Khan.
The super six tournament was the most exciting thing to happen to boxing at the time. Made for some classic match ups.

To see Brook in there would make this spectacular. It would also fulfil his dream of knocking out Khan. I see him coming out on top.
Maybe even a promise of Floyd to fight the eventual winner.

weak Danny Garcia wants a easy soft Rod Salka type at 147lbs

Dainty Danny Garcia is the biggest joke in boxing and has been a joke and protected for years. Yet Danny has done little to distinguish herself as a top fighter and proven true champ. Danny boy embarraSSES HERSELF EVERY TIME SHE FIGHTS A WEAK OPPONENT THEN TAlks tough and calls out a top name. Thurman beats the grease out of the transplanted Puerto Rican tamale dainty afraid Garcia.
