Angel Garcia pointed out that the matchup was dangerous for both guys, and he wasn't wrong.good stuff
i still remember angel garcia saying it was a bad idea for two of the best too fight each other.
they should fight a salka opponent i think he mentioned
the best fighting the best in gruelling competitive bouts where both can hold their head high is what this sport is about
not pathetic cherry picking
f**k a side b side
lets get these fights rolling, the viewership proves its what fans crave
none of the hiding behind the negotiations type of ****
looking squarely at you canelo
With Keith Thurman having his mandatory defense and eyes now set on Garcia/Kell Brook (though interesting that he didn't call Brook out), Shawn Porter is in a decidedly different spot now.
Thurman, Garcia, and Brook, for the most part, have their paths set for the rest of the year/into early next year. Outside of a matchup against Timothy Bradley Jr, who does Porter fight next to make a big fight?Comment

The best thing about these #'s is that if parent network CBS had any qualms about buying into PBC, this should give them great confidence. They undertook this card and the results were impressive across the board. Not to mention the financial coup that was the Mayweather six-fight deal. PBC Presents Showtime Boxing on CBS is a foregone conclusion going forward IMO.
We're nearing the end of year two of this PBC experiment. At this point, senior mgmt should have a good idea of which networks will stay on board and which won't and we'll start to see the better fights trending in the former's direction. Not to mention one or two more smaller networks sticking to groom prospects and revive flagging careers. That's really they need. If Fox or ESPN joins the fray, you're looking at a full-blown takeover.Comment

This was a fight that deserved a big audience and could actually bring in more next time. Glad it did well.Comment

These ratings are not that good for network standards. And somehow people just gloss over the fact that the entire card did 2.4m viewers less then the debut early this year on FOX and lower then the debut last year on NBC and only want to point to the main event numbers. This is not HBO so don't know why people keeping trying to compare it to HBO. HBO/Showtime are premium channels and do not have commercials or care about selling large blocks of commercial times. It's a totally different business model where they only care about getting or keeping their subscribers happy. PBC is trying to sell 2-3hrs of commercial time so they care about the ENTIRE show's ratings not just the last 30mins or the peak 1 min at the very end. This was hands down the biggest PBC card to date, promoted for over a year and accompanied by Showtime airing a 4 part All Access. This is year 2 of PBC so why with basically their version of a super fight did this only rate as the 4th highest PBC card out of the 10 total shows they have aired to date? This should of done 4-5m viewers and blown all past shows which featured lesser fights.Comment

Here is a list of the PBC sat prime time cards in order they aired per Network.
NBC
2015
3.37m Thurman/Guerrero
2.88m Garica/Peterson
2.33m Porter/Broner
2.2m Wilder/Duhaupas
2016
1.8m Figueroa/Demarco
1.24m Spence/Algieri
1.2m Fonfara/Smith
FOX
2016
2.52m Garcia/Guerrero
1.51m Berto/Ortiz
CBS
2016
2.4m Thurman/Porter
So debuting on a new station CBS to lower ratings then you debuted on FOX or NBC despite having the biggest and most promoted show in PBC history is some how good ratings? And even the main event numbers are not the best we have seen by PBC standards which already have lower standards then Network big sporting events. Even when you simply compare the highest 30 mins of PBC to the AVG of other sporting events PBC its not impressive. But Networks care about what your entire program draws not the last 30mins when you just paid for 2 1/2 hours of TV time. Drawing just 3m viewers for the last 30-45min of a 2 1/2 time block is nothing for Network TV. PBC should be getting 4-5m and the ratings shouldn't be dropping each time they debut on a new network especially with bigger and better fights.Last edited by bigdunny1; 07-01-2016, 09:38 AM.Comment

These are what I expected! When the prelim ratings of 2.4 were announce that was disappointing. The viewership over 3m is excellent.
This was the best fight that PBC has put on and it should have done at least what the PBC debut of Guerrero/Thurman did. And this card even surprassed it, which was great to see.
Great fights should be rewarded with great viewership. Khanelo was a disgrace, and I'm happy it tanked. This card was excellent and I'm glad it did very well.Comment
