Comments Thread For: Froch: If Eubank Faces Golovkin in September - I'd Be Shocked

Retired former super middleweight champion Carl Froch would be shocked if a fall showdown was finalized between British middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18KOs) and WBC/IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs).

Froch doesn't want Golovkin to fight Eubank Jr. He knows he beats Eubank easily. And Jr. was doing some work on Froch during sparring, so Froch would be embarrased if the kazakh beats Chris.

Wasn't Froch who said GGG should fight Saunders & Eubank to be considered 'great'? Now he says Eubank shouldn 't fight GGG. SMH

For Chris, this fight would be a one way ticket to Palookaville.

I like GGG, but Eubank looked sharp. May be an interesting fight.

If Jr has his fathers chin, who knows? Might break GGG's KO streak at minimum.

                  And the questions remain.....

                  1) how will Golovkin raise his profile without fighting a world-class opponent?

                  2) will the boxing public really accept Golovkin breaking Hopkins record by defending the WBA's second-rate INTERIM title against lower-level fighters who were all significant underdogs?

Hopkins' record was against a lot of lower level guys too (3 damn robert allen fights), and plenty of undersized guys like De La Hoya and Trinidad. Hopkins was a pretty big favorite against anyone after ko'ing Tito
