Comments Thread For: Mayweather Admits: For The 'Right Price' I Might Come Back!

For several weeks, former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs) was hinting about the possibility of a ring return. The retired pound-for-pound king was discussing the idea of facing current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor in a fall boxing match. Those discussions were never taken seriously and UFC President Dana White made it clear that Mayweather had never contacted his company to negotiate the fight.

I predicted he won't come back. But, I think Floyd likes to spend and he's finding that promoting other guys just isn't as easy or profitable as when he promoted himself. Looking at budgets and what he can afford to spend each year for the rest of his life, I'll best he's very tempted to grab another fat check.

Happens all the time. I hope he stays retired, and we all stop posting about him, myself included.

The lure of the last fat check!

speaking of the greatest muhammad ali, ali suffered parkinson's when he's in his mid 50's. mayweather is suffering from dementia in his late 30's. for mayweather to claim he's the greatest is an indication that he's suffering from mental disorder this early.

          he needs a doctor...

lol, I know. I pretty much stopped posting about him and severely cut down on my, "STFU and let the man stay retired" talk. Couldn't resist here though.

            I'm his same age, in an career with a lifespan, and thinking about budgeting for the future. Having not seen him really launch into anything post-boxing, I know he's gotta be thinking about how he's going to sustain his lifestyle. Boxing didn't make him enough to keep spending at that rate. He's gotta either;
            -Get something else going
            -Spend less
            -Get another fight in

I hope he just finds a way to deal with that addiction to spending money. By all accounts it's not just for show, he really has an issue.

Well i always felt it was pretty much nailed on he would fight Garcia for his 50th.

It's just a question if that or any other fight is worth enough money for him to come back. Garcia probably makes the most sense out of the current Welterweights in terms of the American market. He's not a huge draw anyway but still slightly more well known than the likes of Thurman and Porter.

Garcia is undefeated, 2 weight world champ etc. he's just what Floyd likes in terms of marketing a fight. Plus it's probably an easy fight for Floyd and he can make a cool $50m maybe. Also, Hearn said they enquired with Garcia's team about him fighting Brook and they told him they're waiting for Floyd's next move, which is why they have no fights scheduled for him, so maybe they know something we don't.

Double addiction. Money burning, and lime light desire.

When we see big stars from 20 years ago, doing small parts in films it is the same thing.

I went to a Luther Vandross concert way back, at the concord, California pavilion, and Luther was thanking us fans for showing up. He indicated that artists like himself can't compete with the hip hop gen.

                It was interesting.

Hard to stay relevant as you get older. Floyd wants to bask in the limelight forever.
